Colorless transparent liquid with a mild odor.
Freely soluble in most organic solvents, such as alcohols, ethers, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. Insoluble in water, its aqueous solution is nearly neutral. Halogen-free, relatively high volatility. It is an efficient solvent and reaction catalyst, and also commonly used as a plasticizer.
